Evident in her paintings are Ms. Zoern’s intriguing combinations of shape and color, even when her abstract approaches the real as in her figurative females. A horizontal exhibit of Ms. Zoern’s work can be viewed at the Houston Galleria, where 125 of her painted tables are displayed on the ice skating rink level. Her work can also be seen on various sized canvas, paper, tables and greeting cards. Barbara Zoern’s creative process does not always focus on portraying a particular insightful message. Rather, her informal approach to artistic expression lends to a broad range of interpretation.
